ADIF urges reducing GST compliance burden on small online sellers

At the onset, we - the Alliance of Digital India Foundation (ADIF) would like to applaud the steps taken by the GST Council last year to provide incentives in form of cash backs to consumers for making payments of their GST bills through prescribed digital modes.

As an industry body with the objective of promoting India's digital startup ecosystem, we understand many small sellers want to start exploring online sales.

However, the mandatory GST registration for doing online sales acts as an inhibitor for these sellers whose current incomes are small and well below the GST limits.

Below is the letter sent to the Union Finance Minister and Chairman of GST Council in this regard.
