ADIF opposes the exploitation of Indian App Economy by Apple and Google
Policies such as steep commissions (up to 30% on all in-app purchases), mandatory use of Google & Apple’s proprietary payment systems, and opaque review processes adversely affect business viability.
ADIF strongly feels that the walled gardens created by Apple and Google hamper the ability of Indian startups to innovate. These global giants wield the power to put Indian digital companies – both big and small – out of business without due notice or a fair grievance redressal mechanism.
Policies such as steep commissions (up to 30% on all in-app purchases), mandatory use of Google and Apple’s proprietary payment systems, and opaque review processes adversely affect business viability and consumer interest. The unilateral imposition of such policies is indicative of abuse of dominant position and reeks of rent-seeking behaviour.
If such abusive practices are left unchecked, it could gravely harm our startup ecosystem.
